The pattern holds there too: consistent construction dates mean consistent failure points, which makes diagnosis a little faster once we know which street we're headed to.

Two more patterns turn up often on top of flexi-hose and pipe-age failures.

Hot water systems reaching the end of the road. Original units, and the ones that replaced them years ago, are dropping out suddenly rather than fading gracefully, a steady source of after-hours no-hot-water calls.

Storm surcharge from the wider catchment feeding South Creek, among the biggest in metropolitan Sydney. A proper storm here can push estate drains and gully traps past their limit, spilling over into yards.

Both tend to hit older sections first. The earliest streets built from 1984 carry the oldest hot water units and the most storm-exposed drainage, so age and location together are a reasonable predictor of where the next call comes from.
